In reply to Alanna. Yes, you can add food coloring. I'd recommend using gel food coloring, so it doesn't thin out the frosting.

In reply to Susan. The amount of salt in salted butter can vary between different brands. I always use unsalted butter when I'm baking because it allows you to control the amount of salt.

Can you explain why you don’t use salted butter, but then add salt? Does it change the texture to just use salted butter?
