Thank you, Deb! If you make muffins with this recipe it would be okay to bake them at 350°F. I usually bake muffins at a slightly higher temperature (375°F) so that they rise a little taller.

This is hands down the best coffee cake recipe which I have made several times now.
I haven’t tried using this recipe to make muffins as yet. Would I also bake the muffins at 350? If I bake the muffins at a higher temp, what temp would you suggest? Thank you so much for your patience with my questions 😊

Hi, Deb! If you use chocolate chips instead of chopped apples, it would be best to fold them in at the same time as you would normally fold in the chopped apples. It would be fine to bake it into muffins too. As long as you fill each one almost to the top, the baking time should be about 20 to 25 minutes.

I have made this coffee cake several times and it is delicious!

For a variation, I have thought of adding semisweet chocolate chips to the batter instead of chopped apples. Would it be best to fold them in at the same time as the recipe calls for folding in the chopped apples?

Also, since we are empty nesters, I was wondering about the possibility of halving the recipe, and baking this in lined muffin cups instead? I really like the texture of this batter made with buttermilk better than muffins made with sour cream. Would a baking time of 20 minutes be about right?

Thank you so much for your wonderful recipes!

Yes, that would be fine! You may need to adjust the baking time though. I also have an apple cake recipe here that’s baked in a bundt pan.

Can I use a 10 inch bundt pan?

Delicious! I used a mix of Cosmic Crisp and Granny Smith. Would definitely make it again.
