In reply to Belinda. They've reduced the size of boxes of cake mix since I first posted this recipe. However, you can use a 13.25 ounce box of cake mix (without making any adjustments) and the cookies will turn out just fine!

I cannot find a 16.5oz box only a 13.25oz box. What quantities of the other ingredients do you suggest I use?

In reply to Janet Foster. I haven't tried it with a box mix that size, so it's hard to say. What brand are you using? I typically use Duncan Hines, which are still about 15.25 ounces.

I want to make these, but the cake mixes are now 13.25 ozs. That has to make a difference with 3 oz missing. Any suggestions?

In reply to Carol. I don't recommend it for this recipe, it will change the taste and texture of the cookies. It's only 1/3 cup of oil for 22 cookies, which is less than 1 teaspoon of oil per cookie.

Can I use applesauce instead of oil to lighten them up??
