I have been eating these cookies for 60 years. My mother made these (we call them Sandtarts) every year for Christmas in a crescent shape. Now I make them in her honor because it’s not Christmas without them.

Can I make these with peppermint extract instead of pure vanilla?

This is the best cookie recipe EVER! It’s not a complicated recipe, simple ingredients and the cookies bake up in no time. I discovered Danielle’s baking site about 5 years ago and rely on it for all my baking needs. Danielle knows her stuff. I have made cakes, cookie etc and they always come out perfect.
