If you’re at high altitude, you likely need to make more adjustments than adding a little extra flour. I’m not familiar with baking at a high altitude, but some readers have found this guide helpful for adjusting my recipes.

I followed your recipe to the letter, adding a bit extra flour because I’m in Colorado, but they all sunk. The sprinkles carmelized on top (which tased good). I was able to salvage the bottom half of the bigger ones and the small one, but had to throw the other one away. I had used two 8 inch pans, one 6 inch and one 4 inch. They tasted good but I don’t know what went wrong….

Thank you, Ann! So glad you loved the cake! I will have to try pastry cream in between the cake layers next time I make it, that sounds fantastic!

BEST FUNFETTI RECIPE!!! I kept searching online for the best funfetti recipe and read through different blogs that compared the sallys baking to molly yeh and said that the molly recipe was her favorite. However,  when i went to the recipe, it only had the measurements in cups so i wanted to find one that was more precise with grams and stumbled upon this one. I love the added almond extract really made this one taste delicious and turned out really moist (i did use simple syrup in between layers just to make it extra moist when layering). I also paired (and suggest!) this recipe with pastry cream filling which really enhanced the vanilla flavor in between the layers. I knew this one would be good after also trying your lemon cake recipe that was as moist and fluffy ! Will definitely keep this one in my bookmarks!!!

Hi, Erica! It may take a little more time for the egg whites to reach stiff peaks. The frosting will taste a little buttery, but it shouldn’t be overpowering. Did you make any adjustments to the recipe?

Okay I finished the cake. Sadly, I think I did something wrong. The frosting is waaaaaaay too buttery for my taste. Is it supposed to be that way?

How can I make this happen? I am following the directions to a T.
