I haven’t tried it, but I imagine that you could! I would probably puree or mash about 1 pound of cherries and reduce them on the stove until thickened, then whisk that into the sweetened condensed milk mixture (similar to how I make my strawberry ice cream).

You can let it cool before adding it to the sweetened condensed milk mixture. I usually just go ahead and whisk it into the sweetened condensed milk and by the time I’ve made the whipped cream, it’s usually cooled off enough to mix together.

I wouldn’t recommend using cold brew coffee because if there’s too much water in the ice cream it will turn out icy. You could dissolve some espresso powder in a little hot water and use that though.

Sorry also wanted to ask if using hot water the way you described is it best to let that cool before adding it to the sweetened condensed milk mixture?

In reply to Danielle.

Hi Danielle, Thanks so much for your prompt reply. I am wondering if I could use cold brewed coffee from fresh ground beans or even espresso powder instead of instant coffee. What do you think?
Thanks again.

Thank you, Fino! I’ve made a coffee variation by dissolving 2 tablespoons of instant coffee granules into 2 tablespoons of hot water, then whisking that into the sweetened condensed milk mixture. Feel free to start with just half of that amount and add more if you prefer though!

This ice cream recipe is absolutely perfect! So easy to make but creamy and delicious! I can’t put into words how good this is. I tried the oreo variation, Amazing! I would like to make a coffee flavor variation as well. How many ounces of coffee would be the right amount to add to the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt mixture? Thank you for an awesome ice cream recipe!
